Monaghan Town St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Monaghan Town St. Patricks Day parade promises to be one of the biggest yet, with over 40 entrants, including a number of new applicants, it’s an event not to be missed! The Parade will begin at 3PM sharp with some fantastic floats, community groups and entertainment provided throughout the parade.
This year, we welcome for the first time the Misty Creek String Band all the way from Knoxville, Tennessee who will be playing a mixture of Bluegrass and Southern Gospel tunes on the First Monaghan and Smithborough Presbyterian Church float.
Other entrants include award winning Scoil Rince ni Bhrogain who won the Centenary Award last year, Clontibret Pipe Band, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNRr41oveko), Monaghan Brass Band and a number of Foroige groups, who for the last three years, have provided much colour to the event.
A number of awards will be awarded to the winners of the Best Window Display, Best Community Float, Best Commercial Float and a new award has been kindly sponsored by Permanent TSB for the most innovative float.
Amusements will be provided at the Diamond and the Funfair at McNally’s Car Park will be available throughout the day and our wonderful, weekly farmers market will be operating from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
It’s still not too later to enter, please contact Monaghan Municipal District on 047 73777 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to welcoming all our visitors from near and far, and are particularly delighted to welcome the Mayor of Douglas, Isle of Man, Mr. Councillor John Skinner to the viewing stand.
