Taste Club

Monaghan Taste Club held the first of a series of event in Porky’s Restaurant on Wednesday the 17th of May.

The event was a tremendous success with all the guests that arrived on the night with a specially crafted menu provided by Chef Mark and his team.

Porky’s treated their guests to Canapés on arrival with a glass of Prosecco and the theme of the night was ‘Arrival of Summer’, and with the sun beaming down on the Diamond it delivered.

Starters consisted of Connelly’s Free Range Organic Scotch Eggs, Duck Parcels & Porky’s Special Chicken Wings.

This was followed by a beautiful pea and mint soup.

For the main event, there was a wonderful selection of flavours to choose from with Pan Fried Hake, Treanor’s Free Range Chicken on a Bed of Crushed Baby Potatoes, Silverhill Duck with Cabbage and Red Berry Jus, Porky’s Pork Loin with croquette and special apple gravy and a wonderfully crafted vegetarian dish.

Palettes were cleansed via a beautiful Old Carrick Mill Gin, Crushed Ice, Apple and Carrot Sorbet.

As a fitting finale, Mark and his team prepared a classic Trio Dessert Plate with Chocolate Brownie, A Citrus Cheesecake and Homemade Ice Cream all washed down with a warm miniature Baileys coffee.

Mark Hamill, Shane Treanor, Raymond Aughey and the team should be proud of an excellent night in Porky’s Restaurant with impeccable service throughout.


The next Monaghan Taste Club Event will be held in Andy’s Bar & Restaurant in June and will be an event open to the public and should NOT BE MISSED. More information on the next event will be available through Monaghan Taste Club Facebook page and The Taste Club will be working to a calendar of activities, to be launched in June.
